It's been two weeks now since my last post and one of those was spent in a very hot and sunny Las Vegas and, as always, spending a week in a country that uses so little metric helped to highlight things back here in the UK that I might otherwise have missed.

Ice Hockey in the UK, being a North American sport, tends to follow what is done in North America. Even though the sport is essentially Canadian it is still usual to publish player statistics using feet, inches and lbs. However English Premier League team Telford Tigers can be congratulated for using metric!

With the recent switchover to metric speed limits in Ireland the UK now has a land border with a country with metric-only road signs. This, along with the ever-growing number of drivers taking their UK registered cars across to Continental Europe highlights the fact that many cars on our roads are woefully inadequate when it comes to use in an all-metric environment.
