I often use the phrase "One step forward, two step back" when I talk about metrication which is ironic given that the news that woke me up this morning (BBC Radio 2 on my clock radio) was about hill walkers who had managed to get a Welsh hill re-categorised as a mountain. |

You may recall a few weeks ago that mention had been made about the demise of the acre... but the Olympics have now finished and the press and Eurosceptic politicians are clearly bored and so this is being dragged up again. |

I've said for a long time that the lack of coherency in British law is one of the main reasons why metrication continues to fail. An example of why this is the case occurred in Sandbach, Cheshire, this week. |
