Another week goes by and the so-called "metric martyrs" are still in the press, this time complaining that market inspectors in Hackney were instructed to target Ms Devers because she was known to be selling in lbs (Hackney Gazette: Metric martyrs targeted claim). Oh dear, doesn't it seem a shame that public officials who's job it is to enforce the law are being asked to keep an eye on somebody who they think may be breaking it? Well, frankly no it doesn't!

Just as I thought I'd seen it all, in the last week it has now been announced that the so-called metric martyr Janet Devers has decided to appeal against her recent conviction. Quite what she hopes to achieve in unclear, although what is clear is that the recent comments by John Denham (MP for Southampton and Secretary of State for Innovation, Universities and Skills) and the subsequent stories in the press which make it sounds as though imperial measures are suddenly again legal!

I've missed a week again... work and personal commitments again but also the fact that there has been on news story on my mind and I wanted to see how it played out in the press. It's the continuing saga of the bunch who style themselves the Metric Martyrs.

Well, it looks like I jumped the gun a little last week. We'd had the legal judgement on the latest attempt by the Metric Martyrs, the papers had moaned a little and it looked like it had all gone away. But then some government minister steps up and says something ripe to be mis-quoted by the national press and once again we're back where we were a few weeks ago!

Oops! Thanks to overload at work I managed to completely miss last week's posting, but that doesn't mean I didn't have time to take notice of some of the events of the last 2 weeks and the first thing that comes to mind is, as always, the roads.
