When I started this blog in the first week of 2007 it was originally intended to chart one year in the life of a metric-educated Brit in his day-to-day attempt to use the metric system and to avoid the use of imperial measures. I've now been writing almost every week for the last 2 years... and although the content has changed my aim has not. |

You could say I'm late for last week's entry... or perhaps early for this week's, so I'm going to just combine the two since, with the possible exception of the crisis in the high streets and the middle east the news has been relatively quiet anyway. I have still been out and about though and have a few observations. |

I wasn't able to post last weekend and with good reason... I'd spent much of Thursday driving across Europe to northern Italy and was determined to enjoy my time there. That's not to say I didn't take an opportunity to do a little observation while I was there! |

As much as I enjoy my trips to the USA I always come back feeling a little mentally frazzled, although having used my Sat Nav (set to metric) in recent years I've had some relief from road signs I still have to convert weather forecasts from °F to C... but what I didn't expect, especially after complaining about it 2 years ago, was having to do the same on a Virgin Atlantic flight! |

Those who argue for the Imperial system of measurement often state that one of it's many great features is it's flexibility and the fact it fits in with everyday things... but I spotted something this week which once again proves that this supposed flexibility is often used as nothing more than a smokescreen with which to confuse the unsuspecting consumer! |
